Circle Match: Get a rebate to Mint, Set Your Price to Redeem

what you’ll learn

Circle Match pairs USDC mint and redemption orders in hourly auctions. Matched mints earn a rebate; redemptions clear at or below the Express rate.

See how Circle Match’s hourly, prefunded auctions can pay you a rebate when you mint and let you set your price when you redeem.

Circle Match: Get a rebate to Mint, Set Your Price to Redeem

For institutions that move USDC at volume, minting and redeeming are critical operations.

However, the economics for Circle Mint customers have historically been one-sided: minting USDC earns no direct rebate, while fast redemption to US dollars carries a fee. One institution may be minting just as another is redeeming, but the flows rarely meet. Their value is often captured elsewhere through secondary-market spreads and trading fees.

Circle Match changes those economics inside Mint. Now available to eligible Mint customers, Circle Match brings institutional mint-and-redeem demand together in an hourly auction. When orders match, the redeeming side pays one clearing fee, at or below the Express rate. Today, the minting side receives that full fee as a rebate.

When offsetting USDC flows miss each other

When minting and redemption flows are handled separately, institutions can use standard Mint redemptions or route activity through an OTC desk or exchange, where spreads and trading fees shape the economics. Market makers, OTC desks, and institutional trading firms already mint and redeem USDC as they deploy capital, manage inventory, and serve clients. Circle Match connects them with willing counterparties across Circle Mint, with no bilateral onboarding or credit lines. Minters set the minimum rebate they will accept. Redemption orders set the maximum fee they will pay. Both sides keep control of their terms.

How the hourly Circle Match auction works

Every hour, Circle Match runs an auction. The process is designed to be simple, transparent, and fully funded:

  1. Fund your order: To redeem, deposit USDC. To mint, fund a separate Circle Match balance by wiring USD, which converts to USDC when it settles. Funds are on deposit before an order enters the auction.
  2. Set your terms: Set a minimum rebate to mint, or a maximum fee to redeem, up to the Express rate. Follow the indicative fee, available size, and time remaining in the Match interface or API.
  3. Lock before clearing: New orders can join until clearing; after the one-minute lock, existing orders can be improved but not withdrawn. Better-priced orders, not those placed earliest, are filled first. Orders at the clearing fee are allocated pro rata. Once the book locks, liquidity cannot be withdrawn before clearing.
  4. Clear at one uniform fee: One fee applies to everyone matched in an auction. Matched redemptions pay it. Matched mints receive it as a rebate. Any unmatched amount follows the post-fill action you set: Fallback, Roll, or Cancel.
  5. Settle atomically.

A rebate for USDC minting

Minting USDC is often a routine step in putting capital to work. Circle Match adds a new economic outcome. When minting demand is matched with a redemption, the minter receives the auction fee as spendable USDC in their normal Mint wallet. Today, the full fee paid on a matched redemption goes to the minter, subject to applicable product terms, auction rules, and any disclosed fees or exceptions.

Institutions participate only in the auctions they choose and at the terms they set. The rebate depends on the orders in each auction, so no specific outcome is promised. Capital already being deployed through a USDC mint can now earn a rebate when another institution needs the offsetting liquidity.

Set your price for fast redemption

When your redemption order matches, you pay the auction’s clearing fee: never more than the maximum you set, and never above the Express rate. Matched redemptions pay out as fast as Express.

Circle Match does not price USDC. It coordinates the fee that connects the primary market for mint-and-redeem demand. Every matched participant sees the same fee, with no bilateral negotiation and no separate spread retained by Circle on matched volume.

Prefunded orders make settlement predictable

Each order is fully backed before it is placed, removing the need for a bilateral credit line or a post-auction transfer between participants. Self-match prevention keeps one entity from taking both sides, while the one-minute lock prevents liquidity from disappearing immediately before clearing.

Execution desks and treasury teams get a process they can plan around: known timing, participant-defined limits, one fee, and atomic USDC settlement when an order matches.

Full optionality inside Mint

Circle Match is available through the Mint interface and API, with real-time auction data for programmatic workflows. Participation is optional from one auction to the next. Institutions can fund only what they want to match.

Money deposited for mint-side participation stays separate from the normal Mint wallet until it is used. Participants can keep it available for future auctions or redeem it for USD at no cost.

Put existing USDC mint-and-redeem flows to work

Circle Match brings natural mint-and-redeem demand together where those institutional flows begin: inside Mint. Mints earn a rebate. Redemptions clear at your price, up to the Express rate. Both sides settle against prefunded balances at one uniform fee.

Same USDC flows, now with new economics.
