Legal & Privacy
At Circle, we are committed to conducting a hiring process that is fair, inclusive, and transparent. We are proud to be a tech-forward, innovation-driven organization that uses AI responsibly.
Our hiring process is designed to be:
- Fair and inclusive – minimizing bias through awareness and monitoring
- Human-centered – ensuring all final decisions are made by people, not algorithms
- Innovation-aware – thoughtfully incorporating technology to improve efficiency and candidate experience
- Rooted in trust – maintaining transparency with all applicants about how AI is used
To this end, we would like to provide Candidates with information about how we use AI in the hiring process and establish standards for Candidates’ own use of AI.
Circle’s Use of AI Tools for Hiring
We believe in the responsible and innovative use of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance efficiency and consistency in our hiring process while maintaining a human-centered approach to evaluating talent.
How Circle Uses AI Tools for Hiring
In line with our values, Circle has a human in the loop throughout all aspects of the hiring process.
All hiring decisions at Circle are made by human reviewers.
Circle uses AI tools to: assist the talent team in organizing and reviewing applicant data during early stages of the hiring process, for administrative purposes, and to assist interviewers.
Circle does not use AI tools to: make automated hiring decisions or make a final determination regarding which candidates are advanced, interviewed, or hired. While Circle does use AI tools in ways that assist and enhance the hiring process, AI tools do not unduly influence the decisions made during the process.
Circle requires that its AI tool providers do not use candidate data to train its models.
Addressing Bias
To help maintain fair and inclusive hiring practices, Circle monitors and reviews the outputs of the AI tools used in the hiring process for potential bias
We understand that the legal and ethical standards that apply to the use of AI tools for hiring purposes are emerging and evolving, and Circle will continue to monitor these changes in connection with the ways in which Circle uses AI tools in its hiring activities on an ongoing basis.
Circle’s Expectations for Applicant and Candidate AI Use
At Circle, we value authenticity, integrity, and transparency throughout the hiring process. We also recognize that AI tools can be helpful when used thoughtfully and appropriately. To support a fair and genuine experience for everyone, we ask candidates to follow the guidelines below regarding the use of AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or similar systems and assistants):
Interview preparation:
Candidates are welcome to use AI tools while preparing for interviews—for example, to get general guidance on how to approach interviews, organize thoughts, or reflect on experiences. We ask that responses shared during interviews reflect your own experiences, perspectives, and problem-solving.
During interviews:
AI tools may be used during interviews only when explicitly authorized or requested by Circle, such as in an exercise designed to evaluate AI usage or technical proficiency. In those cases, Circle will communicate this authorization in advance. When AI use is part of the interview, candidates are encouraged to show how they thoughtfully and responsibly incorporate AI into their work.
If you’re ever unsure whether AI use is appropriate in a particular context, please feel free to ask—we’re happy to clarify.
Use of AI tools outside of these guidelines may impact a candidate’s eligibility to move forward in the hiring process.
