USDCx on Movement now available via Circle xReserve

We’re thrilled to announce that Movement is now connected to Circle xReserve. Thanks to this integration, USDCx on Movement is now available, providing a USDC-backed stablecoin to platform users and developers. This enables access to crosschain USDC liquidity without the need for third-party solutions.

About Movement

Movement is a scalable layer-1 (L1) blockchain powered by the Move Virtual Machine (MoveVM). Built around the security-first Move programming language, Movement aims to make it easier for developers to build secure, high-performance decentralized applications with asset safety at the core. Designed for both scalability and interoperability, Movement offers near-instant finality and seamless EVM compatibility — enabling crosschain liquidity and expanding opportunities for applications supporting USDC and USDCx.

What is USDCx on Movement?

USDCx on Movement is a dollar-denominated stablecoin deployed by Movement, fully backed 1:1 by USDC held in Circle xReserve. As both a non-custodial smart contract and interoperability infrastructure, xReserve provides minting and deposit attestations for USDCx, enabling secure and verifiable asset issuance and crosschain transfers.

xReserve works in tandem with Circle Gateway and Circle CCTP to make USDCx on Movement interoperable with USDC across supported blockchains, without reliance on third-party bridges.

It is also fully interoperable with USDCx on compatible blockchains. The Movement integration is the fifth xReserve integration, with USDCx also available on the Aleo, Canton, Cardano, and Stacks blockchains.

Powering new use cases

With Movement’s xReserve integration, institutions, developers, and everyday users can explore powerful new onchain use cases, including:

  • DeFi liquidity: USDCx offers increased stablecoin support for DEXs, lending protocols, and structured products on Movement, without bridge dependencies. USDCx supplies reserve-backed dollar pricing and settlement, bootstrapping deep liquidity for AMMs, credit markets, composable strategies, and more.
  • Remittances and cross-border payments: USDCx enables near-zero-fee stablecoin transfers for global users, offering a lower-cost alternative to traditional remittance rails. USDCx on Movement enables instant, onchain settlement, which helps to cut costs and settlement times for developers, users, and small businesses.
  • Neobank stack: Users can spend fund balances with debit card integrations, forming an onchain loop. Deposits flow into audited DeFi strategies while cards and payment rails enable everyday USDCx use within Movement’s ecosystem.
  • RWA Access: Users can route USDCx into instruments like Treasury bills and other institutional lending instruments. Tokenized real-world asset (RWA) access preserves onchain composability..
  • Crosschain liquidity: CCTP and Gateway link USDCx on Movement to USDC across more than 30 supported blockchains, providing broad, ecosystem-wide liquidity without third-party trust assumptions. Projects and wallets can tap a global pool of liquidity for market making, multichain composability, and simplified fiat on/offramps.
