AI agents are ready to pay for data, content, and APIs. With CPN Managed Payments, you run the business and Circle manages agentic payments and settlement.
AI agents are beginning to pay for the data, content, and APIs they use. Learn how CPN Managed Payments can help businesses accept and manage agentic payments without building the underlying stablecoin custody, liquidity, and payments infrastructure themselves.

AI agents and bots now drive more than half of all web requests, and a growing share of those agents are ready to pay for what they use. An agent researching financial markets on behalf of a person or business might pay for a dataset, an API call, and a premium article in the course of a single task, buying exactly what it needs when it needs it. For any business that sells data, content, inference, or software access, that’s a new kind of customer and a potential new source of revenue.
McKinsey estimates that AI agents could orchestrate $3 trillion to $5 trillion in global retail spend by 2030. Another kind of agent spending is already here: agents paying small amounts, many times over, for the data, inference, APIs, and tools they use to get work done. Open payments protocols like x402 now let an agent pay for a resource in the same flow as the request, and infrastructure and payments companies are launching tools to help businesses make their APIs agent ready. But businesses still need a way to accept those payments and move the proceeds into their bank accounts.
That’s where CPN Managed Payments comes in. Whether you own the content and APIs agents want, or run the platform other businesses sell through, CPN Managed Payments lets you start earning from agent traffic without building payments infrastructure of your own.
Getting paid is the hard part
Payment protocols like x402 and MPP handle how an agent pays. Sellers still need a way to receive stablecoins, check and record each payment, and pay the money out to a bank account in local currency. Few businesses are set up for that at the scale of millions of small payments, and few platforms want to take it on for every business they serve.
Until recently, that left two options. You could build the payments side yourself, taking on wallets, screening, reconciliation, licensing, and payouts you never set out to own. Or, if you were a platform, you could ask each business you serve to run its own stablecoin operations just to collect fractions of a cent per call. Either way, agent traffic that could be revenue remained unmonetized. CPN Managed Payments offers a third option.
CPN Managed Payments for agentic payments
We launched CPN Managed Payments in April 2026 to take on the development and management of stablecoin payments infrastructure for PSPs, banks, and fintechs. It handles the licensing, wallets, onchain operations, and payment orchestration behind each transaction. Agentic payments are a new frontier use case built on the same foundation.
With CPN Managed Payments, eligible businesses that sell data, content, or access can now accept agentic payments. That opens the door to entirely new revenue opportunities:
- Data and content publishers, from financial data providers to research archives, can charge agents per request for what they already sell to people.
- Infrastructure and API platforms, from CDNs and API gateways to developer platforms, can help their end-customers earn revenue from agent traffic.
- Image-generation platforms, from image models to creative APIs, can charge agents per image or asset generated.
- Streaming and subscription services, from music platforms to online news publications, can charge agents per stream or per session for the content they deliver.
- Inference companies, from model APIs to GPU platforms, can charge agents per request or token for the compute they consume.
In each case, the split is the same: you run the business, and Circle runs the payments. You keep the product, pricing, metering, and customer relationship. Circle screens and accepts each agentic payment, attributes it to the right business, handles reconciliation and reporting, and pays out to the business’s bank account in local currency when requested. Platforms can add the businesses they serve by API, and businesses selling directly can work with Circle’s payments infrastructure one-on-one.
What agentic payments look like in practice
Setup happens once, and every payment after that follows the same path. Take a financial data provider that sells market data by API via an x402- or MPP-enabled platform and charges agents a fifth of a cent (0.002 USDC) per call. When the platform brings the provider on, one API call to Circle creates a sub-account for the provider. From then on, agents pay to that sub-account, and the provider serves the data once the payment is confirmed. Circle screens and accepts each payment, attributes it to the provider, records it with an onchain reference, and sends webhooks the platform and the provider can use to report the provider’s earnings.
As call volume grows into the millions, even a fifth of a cent per call can add up to meaningful revenue, and, with CPN Managed Payments, the provider can collect that revenue without building or managing its own payments infrastructure. The same model works for any eligible business that sells to agents.
