Native USDC and CCTP V2 are coming soon to Starknet. Learn what this means for the ecosystem.

We’re excited to announce that native USDC and CCTP V2 are coming soon to Starknet!
Starknet is a zk-rollup Layer 2 designed to bring scalability, low fees, and Ethereum-grade security to developers and users. It makes Ethereum faster and cheaper to use while introducing a new programming language, Cairo, that helps developers build powerful apps for DeFi, gaming, and payments.
With the upcoming launch of native USDC and CCTP V2, Starknet will gain access to the world’s largest regulated1 stablecoin, and secure crosschain transfers with CCTP V2. This open infrastructure unlocks powerful new use cases for institutions, developers, and users across the Starknet ecosystem.
Benefits of native USDC on Starknet:
- Offers a regulated1, fully reserved stablecoin redeemable 1:1 for US dollars2
- Enables institutional on/off-ramps like Circle Mint3 for eligible users
- Integrates easily into existing Starknet apps
With CCTP V2, developers will be able to:
- Enable users to move USDC securely between Starknet and supported blockchains in seconds with capital efficiency.
- Build apps that support seamless crosschain onboarding, swaps, payments, and automated treasury rebalancing.
Key Use Cases
Native USDC serves as a foundational building block for a range of use cases across the Starknet ecosystem, including:
- DeFi apps: Integrate USDC to power AMMs, perpetuals trading, and more with near-instant settlement and crosschain functionality built-in.
- Gaming and payments: Use stablecoins for in-game economies and global peer-to-peer payments with cost-effective fees.
Bridged vs. Native USDC
Starknet currently supports Bridged USDC (USDC.e), which comes from Ethereum via StarkGate. The Starknet team will work with ecosystem apps to smoothly migrate liquidity from bridged USDC to native USDC over time.
There will be no immediate impact to existing bridges and they will continue to operate as usual. Bridged USDC will remain clearly labeled as “USDC.e” in block explorers, app interfaces, and documentation.
