USDC

Latin America has quickly evolved into a hub for digital finance, with a strong developer base, broad support for financial innovations, and a growing need for digital dollars as a store of value. We are teaming up with Mercado Pago, the largest Latin American fintech, to address this demand for trusted digital dollars to power transactions in Chile, enabling millions of users access to USDC.

Working with Mercado Pago, we aim to foster efficiency and accessibility to trusted digital dollars in the region, aligning with a shared vision of leveraging innovative technology to empower individuals with access to the global financial ecosystem.

“The US dollar is one of the most stable currencies in the world and a simple vehicle to ensure wealth preservation amidst general uncertainty. With the launch of this stablecoin we seek to diversify access to cryptocurrencies and offer the more than two million Mercado Pago users an alternative that matches the value of the dollar,” said Matías Spagui, Senior Director of Mercado Pago.

“Latin America is emerging into an epicenter for the digital economy with flourishing innovation and enthusiasm about digital dollars," said Rachel Mayer, VP of Product at Circle. "Working with Mercado Pago to offer USDC to Chile users is a pivotal step in providing more accessible digital financial solutions to enable global participation in this new era of finance."

USDC’s integration into the Mercado Pago platform will allow Chilean users to leverage the benefits of a trusted, secure, and transparent digital dollar for near-instant transactions, unlocking a new host of financial opportunities. By offering digital tools that allow users to have greater control over their finances, Mercado Pago continues to diversify financial services options for the Chilean market.
