CCTP V2 is the present and future of CCTP. CCTP V1 is now a legacy version with its manual phase-out commencing on July 31, 2026. We encourage developers to migrate to the canonical CCTP contracts and API today.

Since its launch in 2023, Circle CCTP (Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol) has become the core infrastructure for USDC transfers between supported blockchains. Across both versions (V1 and V2), CCTP contracts have processed over $110 billion in cumulative volume and more than 5.3 million total crosschain transfers as of November 14, 2025. It’s become critical infrastructure for apps, bridges, digital wallets, and exchanges that rely on secure and capital-efficient crosschain transactions for their users and treasury operations.
Today, we’re announcing the next step in its evolution:
- CCTP V2, launched March 11, 2025, is now simply “CCTP”, and will be known as the canonical version going forward.
- CCTP V1, launched April 26, 2023, is now “CCTP V1 (Legacy)”, and will remain available during a deprecation period of ~10 months from the initial public announcement on November 14, 2025, with its manual phase-out commencing on July 31, 2026.
Reasoning behind the change
CCTP V2 introduced an expanded set of capabilities for moving USDC crosschain today and into the future:
- Standard Transfer: Settlement that matches source chain finality, available on CCTP V1 (Legacy) and carried forward into CCTP V2.
- Fast Transfer: Faster-than-finality settlement, enabling near-instant crosschain transfers for latency-sensitive use cases like trading and liquidity management.
- Hooks: Post-transfer automation and composability that allows developers to build smart, more streamlined workflows.
- Broader Network: Live on 17 blockchains as of November 14, 2025, with additional expansions expected.
Circle is committed to building upon CCTP V2 as we continue investing in:
- More chain expansions to reach new ecosystems.
- New features, including additional supported assets, that expand what developers can build on top of CCTP.
- An upcoming forwarding service to automate the final mile for our crosschain products, handling attestations, broadcasting destination chain mints, and paying destination chain gas on behalf of developers and users.
- DevEx improvements, including our all-new Bridge Kit to enable integration in under ten lines of code and increased transaction limits, from $1M to $10M, to support larger flows.
CCTP V1 (Legacy) has served developers well since its launch in 2023, but by contrast it is limited to Standard Transfer functionality only. CCTP V1 (Legacy) will stay active on its current 11 supported blockchains, but there will be no new chain integrations or feature updates. Its manual phase-out will commence on July 31, 2026, leading to full contract pause at the end of the deprecation period.
By designating CCTP V2 as the canonical CCTP, Circle is aligning the ecosystem on a single, more powerful standard that can scale to meet the needs of developers and the applications they’re building.
Next steps for developers
Developers using CCTP V1 (Legacy) today don’t need to worry about sudden disruption as it will remain available during the transition period. We recommend beginning to plan your migration strategy with our CCTP Migration Guide.
If you’re in the process of planning to integrate for the first time, make sure to use the V2 contracts for CCTP, which is now the canonical version of CCTP.
Next steps from Circle
As of November 14, 2025, the canonical CCTP contracts are live on all CCTP V1 (Legacy) supported chains except Aptos, Noble, and Sui. Circle intends to launch the canonical CCTP contracts on both Aptos and Sui by the end of the first half of 2026.
Circle is working with Noble and Cosmos ecosystem teams on an intermediate solution to route USDC flows to and from Noble.
We expect a smooth migration for developers to the canonical CCTP contracts over the next several months, and we’re available to support developers with their integrations on our Discord.
Circle will review migration progress in the first half of 2026 and may share updates then. These updates may include manual steps to process all pending attestations as the CCTP V1 (Legacy) phase-out commences on July 31, 2026.
