Native USDC and CCTP are coming soon to EDGE Chain. Learn what this means for the ecosystem.

We’re excited to announce that native USDC and Circle CCTP are coming soon to EDGE Chain.
Circle Ventures has invested into edgeX, the team behind EDGE Chain, reflecting our conviction in the broader EDGE ecosystem as a scalable, high-performance environment for applications built with USDC and CCTP.
EDGE Chain is a layer-3 (L3) blockchain that powers edgeX, a fast-growing perpetual DEX that is designed to deliver competitive trading speed and performance more commonly found on a centralized exchange (CEX). EDGE Chain leverages the Arbitrum layer-2 (L2) chain for security and ultimately finalizes settlement on layer-1 (L1) Ethereum.
With the upcoming launch of native USDC and CCTP, EDGE Chain will gain access to the world’s largest regulated1 stablecoin, and secure crosschain transfers with CCTP. This upcoming integration will enable new use cases for institutions, developers, traders, infrastructure providers, market makers, and other EDGE ecosystem users.
Benefits of native USDC and CCTP on EDGE Chain
Native USDC on EDGE Chain is designed to provide a trusted digital dollar that can be used for trading, lending, and other onchain activity. Native USDC on EDGE Chain offers benefits like:
- A regulated1, fully reserved stablecoin redeemable 1:1 for US dollars2
- Institutional on/offramps via Circle Mint3 for eligible users
- Easy integration into edgeX and other EDGE apps
Meanwhile, CCTP makes it easier to move USDC across supported blockchains without relying on bridged or wrapped assets. CCTP on EDGE Chain enables developers to:
- Securely and efficiently move USDC between EDGE and other supported blockchains
- Choose between Standard Transfer and Fast Transfer according to their requirements
- Build apps that support seamless crosschain onboarding, trading, margin, lending, and other financial applications
Native USDC is intended to serve as a foundational building block for a range of use cases across the EDGE Chain ecosystem. One key area is DeFi markets, where USDC can enable 24/7 settlement on edgeX across lending, spot trading, and perpetuals.
Bridged versus native USDC
EDGE Chain currently supports Bridged USDC (USDC.e) created by Alchemy. The EDGE Chain and edgeX teams will work with ecosystem apps and users to smoothly migrate all USDC.e liquidity to native USDC over time.
Bridged USDC will remain clearly labeled as “USDC.e” in block explorers, app interfaces, and documentation.
