USDC Comes to Hedera, the First Carbon Negative Enterprise Grade Decentralized Network

USDC Multi-Chain

Since the beginning, Circle has taken a chain-agnostic approach to providing widespread availability for USDC. That’s why we’re excited to announce that USDC is now live on the Hedera network, delivering the same dollar-denominated transacting capabilities you’ve come to know and love from the world’s fastest-growing dollar digital currency. Hedera is governed by a diverse council of business leaders spanning multiple industries, including  Boeing, Deutsche Telekom, Google, IBM, and more, and designed to accommodate the needs of enterprises at scale. USDC on Hedera will be compatible with existing Circle Accounts and Circle Payments, Payouts, and Accounts APIs.

“Support for Hedera USDC means more people can take advantage of dollar digital currencies,” said Jeremy Allaire, CEO and Co-founder of Circle. “With Hedera, enterprises and financial institutions can access deep liquidity across countries and platforms, making Hedera USDC an optimal asset for cross-border transactions and trades of all kinds.”

Hedera uses hashgraph technology to deliver high transaction throughput and settlement in seconds, with low fees and bandwidth requirements. To date, more than 400,000 accounts have been created and more than 1.6 billion digital currency transactions have been processed by the Hedera hashgraph network.

Hedera is also the first decentralized protocol to achieve carbon negative network operations, making it a compelling choice for developers and users seeking to manage the climate impact of their Web3 adoption and use.

“With the USDC launch on the Hedera network, The HBAR Foundation is taking an important step toward fulfilling its mission to ease the development and launch of DeFi applications on the network,” said Shayne Higdon, CEO and Executive Director, The HBAR Foundation. “This integration aligns well with the growing tokenized economy on the Hedera network and will help drive new projects. We look forward to working with the community to bring these applications to market.”

With more than 50 enterprises already building on Hedera today, the addition of USDC to Hedera will help businesses scale and make it easier than ever for users to transact with confidence in a familiar dollar-denominated format.

“We’re excited to partner with an ESG leader in the Web3 industry,” said Allaire. “Together with Hedera, we look forward to bringing the latest innovations in dollar digital currency technology to an ever wider audience.”
