FAQs

Circle’s treasury solution is a 24/7 onchain settlement layer to move value between your entities, built on Circle Mint3 and USDC. You can onramp fiat to USDC through your Mint account, custody with institutional-grade security and role-based access controls, move USDC between your entities at any hour, and offramp back to fiat on the other side when needed.

The onchain cross-border leg settles in minutes, independent of banking windows, cutoff times, or correspondent banking rails. Fiat onramp and offramps depend on local rails and banking hours, but the cross-border movement is decoupled from them.

Traditional cross-border flows depend on banking hours, correspondent banks, and settlement windows that can stretch from one to three days. When your entities bank with different partners across regions, each new partner introduces their own reconciliation timelines and fees.

Circle’s treasury solution enables treasury teams to move funds across entities in minutes, 24/7, through onchain settlement. For organizations operating across multiple banks, jurisdictions, and time zones, this reduces reliance on bank transfer windows and speeds up settlement.

Circle Mint3 supports wires and domestic bank transfers in 185+ countries. For fiat settlement, Circle has direct banking relationships in key markets including the US, Europe, Brazil, Mexico, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the UK. In select markets where local instant payment rails are available, fiat settlement is available 24/7. In corridors without 24/7 domestic rails, fiat settlement timing depends on local banking hours. Coverage is expanding, with new regions in active development.

Circle’s onramp / offramps and custody capabilities are designed to work for treasury teams operating in a controls-first environment. Treasury teams can verify balances, initiate transfers, apply approvals, and confirm receipt the same way they would in a banking portal. Role-based permissions, configurable approval thresholds, and dual approval requirements are built in.

Teams that are used to working with treasury management solutions such as Kyriba can access Circle directly from their TMS. More treasury management integrations will be available soon.

Circle offers ISO 20022 camt.053 end of day and camt.052 intraday statements. Settlements reconcile into your ledger and existing accounting systems.

Circle’s solution is built for compliance. Circle takes a regulatory-first approach, with licenses across major jurisdictions including a national trust bank charter in the U.S., MiCA compliance in Europe, and a license as a Major Payment Institution by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. For more about Circle’s licenses across jurisdictions, visit here.

Beyond meeting the highest degree of regulation as a company, our products are designed to meet the needs of regulated institutions. USDC is fully backed by highly liquid reserves, with monthly attestations published by a Big Four accounting firm. Circle Mint3 is designed to support institutional controls (see more on the above question), including a secure custody offering that offers the protections of a qualified custodian.

Circle’s platform is designed and maintained with enterprise-grade security at the core. We follow industry frameworks, such as the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity framework, and undergo independent, annual third-party audits, including SOC 2 Type II and SOC 1 Type II examinations by reputable third-party auditors. With our national trust charter, the security and operational controls governing Circle’s digital asset custody will be supervised by the OCC on an ongoing basis. This demonstrates our commitment to safeguarding data and operations through rigorous security, availability, and confidentiality controls established by the AICPA.
